Subscriptions

Paste a subscription URL, let Kumo download it, and make your first proxy connection.

A subscription is a URL that points to a list of proxy nodes, hosted by a proxy service provider. Most providers list it on their dashboard, often labelled "Clash subscription" or "Clash URL".

Kumo speaks the Clash / Mihomo subscription format. If the provider offers a Clash subscription, paste it directly into Kumo.

First launch

The first time Kumo opens, an onboarding sheet appears with four steps:

  1. Welcome — an introduction to Kumo.
  2. Command-line tool — optional; covered in Advanced → Command line.
  3. Agent skills — optional; covered in Advanced → Agent skills.
  4. Done — the main window opens.

The optional steps can be skipped and enabled later from Settings.

Add your first subscription

Open the Profiles destination

In the sidebar on the left, click Profiles.

Add a new profile

Click the + button (top right). A sheet appears asking for a URL or a local file.

Paste your subscription URL

Paste the URL from the provider into the URL field. Give the profile a recognizable name — for example "Main" or the provider name.

Save and let Kumo download

Click Save. Kumo downloads the subscription, parses the proxy list, and shows it in the profile detail pane.

Make it active

Right-click the new profile in the list and pick Set as Active, or click it once and use the Use This Profile button.

The profile is now saved, but Kumo is not running yet.

Start Kumo

Switch to the Overview destination (top of the sidebar). The status card on the left shows Stopped. Click Start.

Within a second or two the status flips to Running. The four cards on the right update:

  • Profile — the active profile and traffic counters.
  • Traffic — a live chart of upload and download.
  • System Proxy — toggles whether macOS sends traffic through Kumo.
  • TUN — for full-system routing (see Advanced).

Send traffic through Kumo

Starting Kumo makes the proxy available on 127.0.0.1. To route browsing traffic through it, flip System Proxy to On on the Overview screen.

System Proxy uses the same networksetup switch that macOS exposes in System Settings → Network. It does not install a VPN configuration. Turning it off reverts macOS immediately.

Open a browser and visit ipinfo.io or whatismyip.com. The location shown should match the selected node.
